What we work on

Land gets its value from the community around it. Our work asks three connected questions about that value: how it should be taxed, how it should be measured, and how the land the public already owns should be used.

Land Value Tax

Tax land, not buildings.

Shifting the property tax off homes and businesses and onto land value rewards building, discourages speculation, and keeps the value a community creates working for that community.

Property Tax Assessment

Get land values right.

Fair property taxes depend on accurate, transparent valuations, and too often land is the part assessors get wrong.

Public Land

Lease public land, don't sell it.

Governments own millions of parcels. When they lease land long-term instead of selling it, the public keeps the rising value of the ground while private partners build on it.

More on public land is coming soon.
